The sheer damage cause by the contact is the main hindrance, so far there's no material strong enough to sustain repeated fire. Power can come second, but wasn't infuriating as the durability issue.

Maybe he isn't when he's 15, but who knows when he's older (if he's not killed/kidnapped/turned evil that is).
