We've already seen all that - both with regards to failure and how it interacts with physical matter (especially with punching into ships) - why would you need someone to tell you what you can already confirm for yourself?
Besides, stuff like calling it a field of plasma would make no sense whatsoever - all it really accomplishes is in making the designers look foolish.
