Someone dumb enough to put their life in peril (he jumped into a street full of moving cars chasing a cat) does not deserve to be saved at the cost of one's life, they deserve a
Darwin Award. So Hyori's action was not cool/heroic, quite the opposite, it was plain dumb.

... since he was in the kendo club, he used said skill to parry his opponent strikes. Takamiya does not have any extraordinay skills and if Takeshi was not
very good at kendo his only real option would have been run or surrender (just like Takamiya).
