The thought of Azuki being involved in the dirty idol business is *not* pleasant. Yet I saw the hints for such degradation as an issue as early as when she stepped into the business. The whole "choosing pretty girls" just screamed future trouble.
It's like "serious" lolicon. Not cool.
And yeah, though I appreciate character development, the Mashiro x Miho "romance" is just frustrating. On one hand we have this cool shit where mangaka are shonen heroes (don't they look like their creations?) and the new generation fights towards the top, on the other hand we have this hint of sleaziness, potential exploitation, and helplessness on the girl's side. Eh.
Off topic: I've never been a fan of the gravure idol business...or any idol business for that matter. It always feel like an industry that takes in unsuspecting young girls, exploit them, fuck them, get rich off of them, oppress them, then spit them out when they can't take it any more. How can I even hope to be aroused with this thought hanging in the background? They are modern day slavery combined with commercialism at its worst.
