Despite the amount of emphasis (in the cartoon and comics) that was placed on the pendant, it seems like that's the only reason it was in place -- to set up that Isumi moment.

Even then, I don't think there has been a single piece of dialogue in reference to it, even during the Isumi incident, and it isn't even shown after that.

Personally i think the pendant is just that, a plot device to propel the story forward particularly in the direction of Isumi... It's all there to set up that Hayate and Isumi moment and after it's done it's duty then you never talk about it again..
