Haruka, while still caring for Takayuki, wasn't cluthing the book for what you thought...it's more towards the way the DVD's ending portrayed it, that she had been desiring to have her friends back together. Not that she was wanting to get back together with Takayuki. She accepted letting Takayuki go and understood that things changed and they couldn't go back to how things were.
So technically, they did meet up again, as it was insinuated at the end of the extended ending of KimiNozo
