Yeah, because Charles learn from the wrong source (*cough*Louise*cough). There's actually plenty of BL that is not-explicit, lighthearted and overall, gentle (I once read a manga like that, and laughed my ass off), in this case MAJORITY of BL works these days is flooded with angst and "Rape is Love" undertone.
