You're not alone. I didn't notice a thing until I saw the comments here, and even then I had to watch twice just to clue in to what everybody was talking about.

As for the episode itself... ehh. Bit of a hit or miss really, because I didn't really dislike any of it, but it did have an awful lot to do in one episode. I always had the idea in my head that the whole Code Crown splitting into 108 pieces was something of a Triforce deal, where somebody (maybe Bugramon himself) tried taking it and it shattered, so it's nice to finally get confirmation on what happened there.

I really enjoyed the battle itself, though. Even if it was basically nothing more than a small teaser, I enjoyed getting to finally see a few Digi Xros combinations that weren't the ones we've been seeing all along. It was that concept that drew me to Xros Wars in the first place, and it's always been a bit of a source of disappointment for me that they didn't do nearly as much with Digi Xros as they really could. So getting to see this was as good a start as any, I guess.

Bugramon was painfully disappointing in the end though... Which isn't too surprising I guess, given the time constraint, but it was still sad. Would have been nice to see him put up a bit more of a fight, but it would probably had to have been stretched over into another episode for that. As it is, he got little more than his fifteen minutes of fame (and even then, it was really only five minutes ) before being curb-stomped the same way everybody else was.

I suppose the fact that he was up against an amalgamation of quite literally every Digimon out there goes a long way to explaining how brief the fight was, but still... ugh.

I wasn't too bothered by the brevity of the ending though, if only because I couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't really an ending. I had a lot of trouble making the ending of this episode feel like an ending when I knew that the show would be back in a few days anyway. If there were going to be some serious break between this and the new season I'd probably have been annoyed, but as it is I just didn't really care.
