I never judge anime based on the manga. Deadman Wonderland and Sankarea have proven to me that just because a manga works one way doesn't mean the anime won't work another way.
Oh, and from what little I've seen of the manga, the characters seem very generic. That's not really an improvement on the drama thing. But maybe the anime will change my mind on that. I definitely like the Sankarea anime more than the manga, which was pretty dull.
