Live action is too expensive, especially in a case like this where the whole series is set in Europe. If it was a series set in Japan then, yeah, I could understand going the live action route (ala Yasha, especially since Yoshida's work isn't suitable for animation at all), but for something like Monster, there's just no way.

I don't find myself minding dramatic anime works. I like my fantasy/action as much as the next person, but I'll take a great anime drama along with them any day of the week. Especially if it's as good as Monster.
