I guess I'm in the minority in liking the series ending better - or at least disliking it a lot less. I really disliked the movies generally and the ending especially.
That's why I'm really of two minds about this. Eva is arguably the most influential anime ever, and certainly one of the very best. It's the show that really blew me away and turned me on to just how transcendent this medium could be. And there's no question there was a lot left unresolved. But if we're looking at a misguided attempt to (further) cash in on the Eva name without saying anything new and meaningful, that could really tarnish the legacy of the series.
