Ah, I see now. I write immediately after the idea comes.

Spoiler for Evening:
The loud, sharp crack of palm against cheek echoed through the air.
Kay stood there with her outstretched hand, watching Matsuri lying on the ground, struggling to get up. She looked at the helpless girl pitifully, angrily, painfully.
“Do you know what you’ve done?
Do you have any idea, what you have just done?!”
The young girl in front of her couldn’t utter a reply, still holding her swollen cheek, looking at the ground with her empty eyes, paralyzed by shock.
“Listen Matsuri! Beyond your small selfish world, there is a universe full of incomprehensible and unimaginable marvels beyond the reach of your precious science, of unbelievable and outrageous events that defy logic.
And for my poor Shinji to have fallen for an ignorant girl like you, is one of them.”
Slowly, Matsuri turned to look at Kay, to receive the glare of a woman scorned. Kay asserted herself with her soft, yet firm voice, to convey the anger that seethed underneath.
“It is true, I created them, with my own hands and effort. Shinji is not made of flesh and blood like the rest of us, his new body a construct composed of energies you can’t begin to fathom. His actions and impulses are controlled by bytes of 1’s and 0’s…
Yes, my children are not technically human. In your seemingly shallow mind they are but mere programs to be manipulated and discarded.
But he has emotions, and feelings that can savor the joys of living, wince at pain and sympathize with sorrow. He has his own will, his own desires, his own dreams. I did not run software that will make him help others selflessly. I did not type in parameters to make him care for people. I did not program him to love you!"
A barely audible gasp.
"I raised them so they can choose their own direction in life, pursue their own personalities, just like any parent would to any child. I don’t reprogram them when they’re actions don’t suit my expectations, because I do not have lofty expectations of them. I expect them to be themselves, the best they can be, with their own strength. Shinji, Asuka, and Rey are as real as we who call ourselves ‘humans’.”
Kay’s voice grew ever more pained, ever sadder.
“He chose to love you Matsuri. He chose to care for you. HIS choices, without my knowledge or consent. Because he knew what you had been through, a life filled with loneliness, pain and sorrow. He thought he could comfort you, raise you from your problems, and stick by your side through thick or thin! And despite his fears, HIS fears, of only being a program, he still believed in your understanding, on the chance that you might just see him as he is, as someone who can love, and be loved in return.”
Matsuri acted defiantly at Kay’s words, yet each word made her cringe…
“He trusted you! He gave you his attention, his time, his devotion, his loyalty, and most of all his love! And you crushed him mercilessly, because of your stubborn ignorance!”
… as Kay’s voice grew ever louder, ever angrier.
“Did the time you spent together with him simply a lie? Do you truly want to drag him through the mud for what he is not? Call him whatever you want, but don’t you ever call him JUST a program!”
Her last words delivered undeniably loud and ruthlessly clear, Kay finally rested her stance, turning her back towards Matsuri.
“You know what?” Kay spoke once more, her words unrelentingly harsh. “Shinji is too kind and too gentle a man for you. He deserves better than to be hurt like this.”
Slowly, she walked away from the scene, to leave behind a young girl, seemingly unrepentant and resolute, yet undeniably shocked. The night slowly inched towards her, blanketing her sullied face in the darkness.
Only a single word escaped her lips.
"Shinji..."

So much for Matrix Projection of Almaria...
Just kidding. I wasn't planning to really do it anyway.
(Matrix projection is the physical body tech used for Kaylin's 3 AI's)
