Well, clearly it
is collision based because this exploit apparently works. The question is
why it works that way. Personally I think the de-syncing issue makes the most sense, and combined with the menu gesture being special explains a lot of the other inconsistencies. Like why this is the
only use of this seemingly powerful exploit that they mention in the story.
