Regular Japanese acting? Well, the J-drama craze of the 90s had died long ago, at least here in Singapore. As I discussed somewhere else, the main difference between live action and anime is the ability of the animators to project body language and facial expression. In live action, the actor/actress in the role has to do the job. In animation, the animators have to get it right.

Let's face it: The animators go for over-the-top expressions and body language. If the voice doesn't go along with it, we'll have a problem somewhere. Personally, I'll take "trying too hard" over "not bothering at all" any day.
