Besides, he treats her so nicely, and humanly (rather than as an experiment or someone to be controlled) when they first meet that I'm not surprised that she would be attracted to that.
Besides, consider the alternative. Basketball star falls in love with miniature cheerleader (and yes, we had some theories why that would work back in high school.. ahem). That wouldn't seem strange. So...
