Well all I can say is that by the end of the arc (in the manga), most people started loving Brook more and more.
Don't forget that while Brook was only in about 2 arcs and in Sabaondy arc he had a pretty minor role, there wasn't that much time to grow attached to him like people did with Chopper and Robin for example.
