AEUG members didn't start dying in Zeta until Episode 49, its just that the last two episodes have massive amounts of death.
In fact V Gundam is the only Gundam Series that has large amounts of good guys dying before the final and that was because Tomino was in a creator breakdown. Usually you will have one or two members die and Gundam 00 is no exception.
