Afghan Memo #15 -- The Forgotten Country
During the Cold War, afghanistan was the center of attention as the boundary
line between East and West.
However with the outbreak of the Gulf War in 1991, and the collapse of the
Soviet Union, the countries of the world, Japan included, suddenly lost
interest in Afghanistan.
As a result the supply of foreign aid all but disappeared, and this had a huge
impact on Aghanistan and its neighboring countries.
