Spoiler for episode 1:
Sakurai's character, Masakaki, totally stole the show. Or should I say saved it? To be honest, I was very disappointed with the first half: horrid looking chara design, children's card games, in your face "symbolism", shounen-ish OP, boring main character voiced by Uchiyama to boot (I hope I'll be able to forget about the terrible MC he voiced last season soon), ...
I was starting to wonder if I was really watching a Nakamura Kenji show, and then, brilliance knocked on the door. The second half was so great it almost made me forget about the boring introduction. However, even though I loved the second part, I remain cautious. At this point, it's still hard to tell whether it'll be a hit or a miss.
I suppose it'll largely depend on how the system works. I don't know about you, but I am clueless about how those card battles are fought. It's obviously related to money, but beyond that, I have no idea. If the mechanics of the battles are interesting, then this could be highly entertaining. Color me skeptical yet still hopeful for now.
