Good parents seem to be lacking in anime. If they're not there/dead , they are frequently negligent and their children seem to go off by themselves weeks at a time. Or they're abusive or some crap.

For the most part it's just a lazy way of stopping parents getting in the way of the plot, but suddenly you realize why most of these kids are messed up in the head.

So yea, it actually makes me happier to see loving parents in an animu as well-- because it's rare and it really shouldn't be.
