Different doesn't mean it's bad. The Touka Gettan anime is probably the most beautiful series I've seen so far. Exotic backgrounds, detailed costumes, the black and white episode, the play...I have a long list. The ending (...or the beginning if you want to think about it that way) was so beautiful that I almost cried, and I know I wasn't the only one. Plus, things are a lot more fun when they're in motion. So far, I think I've played maybe about one or two episodes' worth of the game, and the anime grabbed my attention much more because of the WTF factor.
Spoiler for March 7th Evening Edition:
-In the middle of the night Touka is awakened by some small red bird with a deep voice waking him up (he's even got spectacles!
). And he's got a funny accent, though I don't recognize where it's from. The bird rambles on a bit more, before Touka tells him to shut up and slaps him away. The bird eventually reveals that the name of the land they're in right now is Kamitsumihara, and he can't believe Touka doesn't know that. Bird's name is Urashima (うらしま). He says the Butterfly Triplets are his daughters (he's the otou-sama they spoke of yesterday). After speaking some more with Touka, he's surprised again how he doesn't seem to know some person/place called Sugawara Nomichizanekou (菅原道真公), but Touka reminds him again that he has few memories. Touka tells Urashima to go away because he's tired, and they'll talk again tomorrow.
-Nene wakes Touka up in the morning, shakes him violently, and dresses him. She asks if he's met Momoka yet, but he hasn't heard of her. Nene says Momoka is Kiyoharu's son's fiancée, and then tells him to smile because there's a camera trained on him. Some clicks, there's a section from Momoka's point of view. She is talking to herself while taking pictures, when she spots Touka, getting dressed by Nene in his school uniform. Momoka is too busy squealing to herself about the photo chance that she doesn't notice Touka coming toward her until he is right in front of her, staring through the lens. Touka teases her about her digital camera (oh, and this time she calls herself watashi, either because she's being formal, or she has a watashi mode), and drags her into the house where he forces her to introduce herself formally. He realizes that she's the girl from the other day. Nene laughs at him for having such a cute fan. He has a fantasy about several girls adoring him at school.
