The triangle doesn't get as intense as the series - not enough time. At the end, Sheryl, tells Ranka she wasn't serious about Alto, but it is obvious, to the viewer, if not Ranka, that she is not being truthful.
Sheryl definitely spent more time with Alto in the movie than Ranka did, although as I mentioned, the movie started out with Ranka and Alto already knowing each other.
The battle scenes looked good, and the theater shook with the sound effects. However, there wasn't as much individual combat highlights as in the series, almost none in the space battles actually. The initial battle where Alto saves Ranka, is almost exactly the same. There are two other major battle scenes after that are different from those in the series.

Thankyou, itīs good to know that the battles are really good, and about the triangle.
Spoiler:
I expected something like this having in mind that the movie only covers 7 episodes.
But Sheryl telling Ranka that she wasnīt serious with Alto, and Kresphyīs spoiler about Alto explaining to Ranka why Sheryl kissed him (i couldnīt resist but thatīs it i wonīt read more... i hope ) makes me think that Alto and Ranka being friends beforehand is really changing the dynamic here.
I just hope they wonīt use the typical cliche, a boy(Alto) and a girl(Ranka) are friends but the girl likes the boy, a new girl arrives (Sheryl) and gets too much attention from the boy and in the end the boy realizes that he really loved his friend... please please donīt use that or something like that.
