Wow, the last horror anime I've watched and liked was Mirai Nikki but this one got me going on the manga and animation is quite dazzling.
But yeah, for 12 years old they look older. Reminds me of the illustrations of Yu-Gi-Oh where everyone seems younger and older from what they seemed. Welp.
