What I believe happened... is the fact that Ikeda probably noticed that this arc has already became too long, and that's why he skipped a few of the side character battle's in favor of, pushing toward the plot of the current arc.
And frankly speaking, I don't mind him doing something like that...

I don't think we are missing pages I just think the progression from the previous chapter to the current chapter is a pretty bad, as if we are missing something. Also the Tsukune "voice-over" in past tense is not something we've had before. This chapter just seems off somehow.
I do agree that the pacing was off and it might be that the author recognized this, however like I said it didn't flow well with lasts months chapter.
