I saw episode 16.
Spoiler
for
Episode 16
:
This episode manages to amuse and touch at the same time. It was humorous to see Sayo experience everyday trivial common things she forgot about (eg. the sneezing, the sound of hunger). But the story itself moved my heart. The consequences and quirks of living with this kind of mushi. Sayo's discovery of her husband living a happy life with another woman is harsh, but the most impactful part has to be the very last scene of the episode. Where she still makes dinner for three, without knowing exactly why, signifying her husband isn't essential to thoughts her anymore after that discovery, but subconsciously it still lingers. That scene was so powerful, so poignant. It strikes both the mind and the heart to make a lasting impression of the tale. How fitting for an end to the episode.
I understand why you really like this story wao. It certainly became one of my favorite episodes of Mushishi thus far. BTW, thanks wao for your complete detail and explanation of the story, it clarified some parts for me.
