nel was left forgotten in the same ditch as grimmjow, afro-car and halibel's fraccion (and probably others i'm forgetting). they were all explicitly shown or said to be alive that last time they were shown.
and lets not forget the hanging bodies in the lab. kubo flat out said that they would be important. they weren't.
