The character designs for
Umineko isn't as childish as you think, but even though the story may not appeal to you, you need to get used to it. If you do it, the story will constantly gets better, otherwise it just ends up so bad that makes you drop it very early.
Another is worth a look though, but be prepared to digest some "bizarre" mysteries though.
