Well G-Gundam came mostly as a self parody of the Gundam franchise, even it's title is Mobile
Fighter G-Gundam, and not Mobile Suit *insert* Gundam *alternate insert* like all the other series of the franchise.
If you take the Gundam-Fight premise on the 2nd degree, what remains are a beautiful story with some big plot twists, and epic characters that makes an enjoyable show.
On a similar vein Turn A Gundam is my favorite serie. Similarly it feels a little weird as it was meant as a conclusion of the Gundam franchise, but the serie itself is a true piece of art.
