It's not really the equivalent of ko because ko is a suffix added to a name, you can call a girl named Usagi by the name Usako for example.

Tsurumaru can mean many things, depending of the kangi, of how the name sound, etc.
A japanese name can be read in many ways.

If I remember well there was a thread which spoke about that.
