Speaking of the style of comedy, I think it's borderline absurdist/existential/gag type, not something that comes straight out with something funny all the time.
If you read the manga and try to analyze it, there's always one singular emotion Yuuko exhibits and they run a weird, absurd gag around her. Same with the robot Nano.
It feels much more like Cromartie High than some other existential comedies like Azumanga and Lucky Star. Much heavier on the existentialism.
