I think Ichigo and Rukia share the bond that can't be described by words. But I would go as far as to calling them
soulmates. With the destiny theme, the connection between them and those epic interactions, how can they be just 'more than friends less than lovers'? Their bond is not romantic (yet, it has a friggin' big chance of becoming one), that's true. It doesn't mean the connection between them is less strong than love. They are
beyond lovers.
