Ah, something that came to my mind that made me be sure of it was that in episode 20, when Marika hears the harmonica she remembers when she "played" with Lion, then how is it that it was her sister? Maybe if you read the manga and it had a different story it confuses it all.

I took it that she somehow had a memory of something that happened to the original Marika, and she didn't understand what it was. If you remember her father told her a number of times that she wasn't the real Marika.
