The challenge comes from maintaining the cast and keeping them relevant.
Bleach's main cast- the original 5 of them- the impression i get is that after awhile they aren't important anymore. Or rather it's hard to make everone relevant.
Toaru solves this problem by having 4 lead characters telling their own story
