In some ways, I think Kaien is a bit of an older, more mature version of Ichigo with a less painful past (his mother being killed) ever since 268 provided as some insight on Kaien and Rukia.

For the record, I do think Rukia loved him selflessly.

Yea, I think she did love him but didn't take it seriously since he was older and had a wife. If he was younger and didn't have a wife I think they made an awsome couple though. Lol
