The assault rifle,which is one of the weakest gun in that game,can damage freaking energy shield and pierce through titanium alloy that has been strengthened down to the atomic structure.
And he somehow managed to use it ALL THE TIME in every game(Well,the cutscene should that he always has the assault rifle even though most player would throw it away for plasma pistol.)
...
I'm sure that he can one shot everything with the Halo 1 Magnum though
