Yay, I'm getting the code now! It's on a new comp, though. Seems like I'll be participating in this Saimoe after all.

I won't be nominating every day, so maybe if someone who can't get codes wants me to PM them codes for the days I'm not voting, I'll try to do so. I'm nominating on 6/20 （カ）and 6/21　（サ） (Pacific time).
Some solutions I found to get around 2ch's all-pwning proxy /banned detection system (These are from Saimoe 2007, so these may not work well anymore. I tried the first, but all of the IPs seem to be "Dummy" or "Error". As for the dial-up solution, it makes sense, but I've no idea if it'll work)

Okay it appears that 2ch DOES have one of the best anti-proxy system in the world. But there are ways to get around it. Folks in Japan gets banned all the time and they still manage to get to 2ch. Here's how they do it:

1. Goto this list and find a proxy:

You will see a column says "write to 2ch" next to each proxy server it found. Pick a proxy server that has the code 700 or Success in that column. Then chose one that's in Japan or close to your country, or just use one by one until you find one that works.

2. Take note of the IP address and the Port number of the proxy you've selected. Then use another browser to perform the proxy voting: if you're firefox user use IE, if you're IE user use firefox.

3. Find the proxy setting in your browser:

* In IE, go to Tools - Internet Options - Connections Tab - LAN settings. Check ONLY the box that reads "Use a proxy server for your LAN..." Put the IP Address and the port you picked from the proxy website and input them into their boxes. You can use hostnames instead of IP if that is what the website listed.
* In firefox, go to Tools - Options - Advanced - Network Tab - Settings. Check "Manually Configure Proxy" button and write in the IP and the port number. Also check "Use this proxy server for all protocols".


4. When you're done, close out all the boxes and check if you can surf to google.com. If you can, the proxy works.

5. Go directly to the 2ch voting page and try to vote. If it works, congrads.

6. If it doesn't, pick another IP from the list and try again.

According to some Japanese websites, 2ch update their system every 2-3 hours, so the IP (refershed hourly) may only work for a few hours. I will recommend you do this AFTER you get your code.

Good luck and if you find a proxy server that worked for you, please share it with the board. Since this is how the folks in Japan get to 2ch, I believe it will work for us too.

If you have an old modem around, hook it up to your computer and look for a Free dial-up internet in your local area. If you can't find a modem, you can get one really cheap on e-bay, and ask around because I'm sure there is someone you know who has a modem in his or her closet.

Once you're connected with this new ISP, you essentially have a new IP and identity in the Internet. Use the dialup connection/IP to get your codes and even vote. If the ISP isn't blocked (unlikely since it's hard to imagine otaku/geeks using dialup these days), you don't even need my proxy service to vote.
