I saw USC mentioned here as well, so I'll chime in: if you apply to a specific program within USC and you're rejected, then your application shifts to the "undecided majors" pile. In other words, you have two shots of getting in: one for the program you want, and the second for the school itself. Or so I've heard. In general,
