When I first started out, I learned from a few internet sources and a couple textbooks (I'm very fond of Gene Nishi's Japanese Step by Step for independent study). Mistakes are bound to be made... I recommend asking for help in the
Learning Japanese thread (and to post there if you want to continue the convo... I need to check that thread more often). No worries; everyone's friendly.
