What's exactly the difference? Not much, they were in the same organization with very similar goals. You see a large difference because the difference in their personality, how differently they manage concrete events. Nagato more with force while Obito more with deception, but if you look deeper they are very much alike.

Not necessarily. Sure Obito won't listen to speeches, but not only words can affect someone but also actions. At some point he might realize that Naruto does not break, he might realize that the young Obito simply broke down mentally but Naruto is much stronger than that. He might realize what a failure he has become when looking at Naruto. He can now choose to believe in someone who is like the young Obito (knowing Kishimoto at the crucial point Naruto will tell to Obito the exact words that Obito told to Kakashi) or to become Madara's dog and sacrifice his life for Madara.
