We have never really seen a paradox take effect.
The fact that time travel itself already causes a worldline shift on arrival makes it questionable that time paradoxes are even possible. For the most part it's a case of people not wanting to take the risk.
Besides, even if time doesn't just "break", using knowledge from the future will irreparably change that future quite drastically, since the whole process of obtaining said knowledge naturally is omitted from the new order of events. The results of this can be rather unpredictable.
