Many interviews from Kyoani Staff relate to how they are trying to something "different", where in the eyes of many they are just rehashing the same old same old with a different spin. Even Hyouka was a mere slight variation as great as that series was. That's what I meant by they are "pretending" to do something different. Seriously, apart from FMP and Munto has Kyoani even bothered to venture outside of this slice of life/drama/comedy genre niche? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Supernatural (Haruhi and Key do not really count). Not to mention Munto and FMP were some of thier most earliest works which makes it even more dubiable since in the last eight years they've done nothing but SoL. That is what's annoying me. Same goes for Tamako Market. They said they wanted to do something different with this, but you know based on the promotions and art styles, it just tells me they are doing the same old stuff theyve been doing for eight or so years straight.

Kyoani is no A-1, no Production IG, no Sunrise, heck not even PA Works because they -never- venture out of their comfort zone yet they insist in their interviews they are "trying to be different". If they were trying to different they would be producing one of the works that they have shown in the random CMs they've been doing lately (which were amazing btw). That's the basis of my rant. No idea where your accusation of hipster came from when it was the staff themselves that insisted that every project is "different".

I see a difference when I see A-1 Pictures do Anohana one year and Shin Sekai Yori the next. I don't see much of a difference when Kyoani does Nichijou one year and Chuunibyou the next.

Anyways, I'll stop here because it's seriously getting offtopic. Like I said, I'm still hoping this turns out to be another "Hyouka scenario" in that it will surprise me, though that is definitely not my expectation.
