i was not familiar with qin shi huang's growing up years and google to see how much was fact and how much was fiction. surprisingly some of the characters did exist in history other than the king himself.

in fact, its only a time skip of 1 year...the story has a looooooong way to go before Qin unites china. judging from the current speed, probably another 1000 chapters of manga and 300 anime episodes at least.

Not some..but all the characters exist in Kingdom in history, much like how all the characters in romance of the 3 kingdoms exist in history(but not the same period of time). The difference is that there is very little information regarding the characters in Kingdom so the author has plenty of space to express his creativity. For example in the final episode, the only information recorded in the history books about death of wang yi are the 7 kanji/chinese words you see at the end of the episode but the author managed to create this epic battle and death scene from these 7 words.
