ep 2 ~
Spoiler:
Indeed the art and detail of the sky is simply breath taking and overkill at times But I agree with klash the the camera distance is annoying to the point where it seems shaft is trying to save out on the animation by doing less. Hopefully the cash will then be poured back into the scenes where it really matters to bring out a stunning feel. Another point is that there seems to be a lot of random cut scenes, which isn't bad but disrupts the flow a bit too much.
As for the story, I really enjoy it. It may be slow at times but then again one can call it depth of character development. So far I find the pairing between renji and chihiro to be most interesting (but they are recieving more screen time so I guess it is kinda unfair ). But personality wise I am really interested to see how renji would stick by her side knowing about her weird illness. Chihiro is such a cute character as well - her personality is my type of moe
As for the OP, I quite like it. Anything out of the ordinary is an instant eye catch for me and the style of this OP is just something like that. I think shaft is trying something different and surprisingly the mood fits for me. This is a story book and the visuals clearly show that. The dramatic significance of the chains, disappearing bodies together with a well times OP song make the whole sequence look like an old fashioned black and white movie more than anything else. I fight this special and deep.
