The plot seemed to indicate that Yin wanted to die in order to prevent the calamity from happening, hence the whole putting herself to sleep. Also it's a bit much for Hei to just kill her without even attempting to talk her back to normal unless there was a time crunch(the calamity). The calamity happening makes Yin's sacrifice at the end absolutely pointless.
