I can imagine Isumi being as sly as anyone after seeing that quite serious and oh so cute look back in previous chapters.
As for gramps being a big troll, well nobody could tell if he was serious or not except Hata himself (heck, there might even be a chance that he doesn't know as well). He's a big prankster, but does it with some purpose, I guess that is to make Nagi stronger, to train her for future external threats of some sort if she becomes the helm at the Sanzenins.
