I thought it was a cracker of an introduction. When Negi called Mahora when

they were at Konoka's family home, and you saw sensei playing go with Evangeline, it was just a matter of when she'd come into the fray, not if.

Regarding her powers, I think she still has some restraints placed on her- like

her child form, for example, and the fact that she needed to Negi's life essence to regain full strength. She could have just escaped Mahora if the barrier was the only thing that was keeping her within the school grounds. I am sure sensei has put some 'conditions' to ensure she behaves whilst on the school excursion. And not to mention the multi-million yen reward on her head ?:-)

BTW, I loved the quote "In a large scale battle like this a magic user's role is nothing more than high powered artillery- in other words, firepower is everything!" That, and Asuna's line "Kids who are naughty... need to be PUNISHED!"

Don't sell it short- this isn't another Love Hina. There is a huge depth to this series that so far has only scratched the surface. Originally we thought this was going to be a sex comedy on the lines of Love Hina, except instead of several girls in the harem we have 31 girls, and in the first two volumes it certainly seems this way. Come the Evangeline storyline, and the plot turns in a totally different direction. Like...

Spoiler:

• was it coincidence that Negi just happens to teach the class that Evangeline is in?
• and that Evangeline has clues to the whereabouts of his father, the Thousand Master?
• that Asuna has an equally mysterious past, which is almost matched by Konoka's heritage?
• why is Konoka being sheltered in Mahora Academy, and not with her family? Especially when Mahora is being run by the leader who runs the rival magical school to Konoka's family?

As for the condition that Negi had to keep his magic user background secret, that's somewhat in tatters. Evangeline knew from the start who he was; Asuna in the first chapter, then Kaede in volume 3, and then it comes fast and furious in Kyoto. So perhaps Negi's teaching job is just a cover for something larger.

I think we need patience here; MSN certainly looks like it's going to be an epic of a story. After all in Ranma 1/2 we don't learn that Ranma's mother is still alive for awhile in the manga. Don't forget there's still a few girls left to make their introduction, like the intriguing Zazie Rainyday, and the round faced cookery girl.
