Probably because he always in charge of the Kitchen when Chifuyu earn money for the Ingredient and life necessities.
One of my friend (from different society) once trick his girlfriend by pretending to buy a cake (which actually made by her own hand) that they ate together. She said she's never eat such delicious cake. Look like for a chef, even the tastiest food they made, quite plain on their tongue, unless it made by others, or involved a little trick

One Piece share same experience with me that make us never throw away any foods.
While lot's of people throw away their still half eaten food (burgers,Pizza,etc), thousands of starving poor soul around the globe (like in Somalia), more than willing to kill each other to get that piece.
