A simple illusion used when wielding a sword, katana or any other medium/long blade. It distorts the enemy's perception of the blade, making it appear shorter than it truly is.
It gives the user the advantage of surprise, being able to injure the enemy with strikes that appear to miss and/or more seriously than it would be supposed to. It's only effective to it's maximum capacity if the opponent hasn't perceived the length of the blade yet, or if the user is more skilled at swordsmanship.
Despite being a simple technique, with low chakra cost, it requires slightly above average chakra control and focus and concentration to maintain it during a prolonged fight. Additionally, if the opponent is a skilled swordsman, he can perceive and adapt to the real length of the blade.

Beautiful idea. Definitely the best I've seen in a long time.
