Nanoha would still be involved with notable speaking parts in a second season of Vivid. They couldn't do it without Yukarin, and I have never heard anyone manage to mimic her voice.
This would have to be a spin off. And... look, it makes sense from an outside perspective. The original cast has been here for a while, the new generation is growing into their power and becoming forces to be noted in the world. Having a "changing of the guard," so to speak, letting Nanoha and crew pass the torch on to the younger generation and let the new kids forge adventures and names for themselves... it's a logical step. The Nanoha verse is plenty big enough and complex enough to give them many opportunities to step up and become heroes in their own right.
...But Nanoha is
Nanoha! She is the living icon of this world, the face of the franchise, the voice that tells us there is nothing to fear, for she will keep us safe. She is our hero. Losing her like this strikes deep into my soul.
