Keima is under the gun and rushed in story, so the fast pace of the episode helps communicate that. Plus, finally they show the awesomeness of Keima. While I didn't mind the first couple seasons taking a slower pace, they did cause a lot of the potential audience to think that the main motivation to watch/read The World God Only Knows is for the girls. I know that was never true for me (nor for most of the manga fans I know). It was always about watching Keima act like an awesome shounen hero as he (deliberately) acts out the most hilarious of the common anime romance/dating sim tropes in order to SAVE THE WORLD!
